Before and After Care
Before Your Facial Massage Or Facial Treatment
These instructions apply to all facial massages and facial treatments at The Face Queen.
• Stop using topical retinol and retinoids at least three days before your appointment.
• Avoid acids, chemical exfoliants, facial scrubs, peels and other strong active products for at least 48 hours before your treatment.
• A minimum of three full weeks is required after any injectable facial procedure. This includes Botox, dermal fillers, skin boosters, mesotherapy, polynucleotides, biostimulators and other injectable treatments. I cannot perform your facial treatment if fewer than three weeks have passed.
• Please inform me in advance about any injectable treatment you have had, even if more than three weeks have passed. This allows me to adapt the pressure, techniques and areas treated safely.
• Please also inform me about recent microneedling, laser treatments, chemical peels, facial threads, facial surgery or dental procedures. Depending on the procedure, your appointment may need to be postponed.
• Please let me know before your appointment if you are pregnant or have any relevant medical conditions, skin sensitivities or allergies.
• Please reschedule your appointment if you have an active cold sore, skin infection, open wound, significant inflammation, sunburn, fever or contagious illness.
• For treatments that include buccal massage, please inform me about recent dental work, oral surgery, mouth ulcers, gum inflammation or active discomfort inside the mouth.
• Please wash your hair and scalp on the day of your appointment. The scalp itself — not only the hair — should be freshly cleansed and free from dry shampoo, oils and heavy styling products, as the treatment includes scalp massage.
• Please arrive without heavy makeup whenever possible.
After Your Facial Massage or Facial Treatment
• Please plan your appointment for a time when you can return home and rest afterwards. The treatment works deeply on facial tension and the nervous system, so feeling very relaxed, sleepy or slightly tired afterwards can be completely normal.
• I do not recommend booking your treatment immediately before an important dinner, event or professional commitment. Your face may appear temporarily warm, flushed or stimulated, and a small amount of massage oil or treatment product may remain in your hair or around the scalp.
• There is no need to wash your face that evening. Allow the professional products to remain on the skin and continue working.
• Avoid intense exercise, heavy sweating, sauna, steam rooms, very hot baths and excessive heat for 24 hours.
• Avoid retinol, acids, facial scrubs and other exfoliating products for at least 48 hours, unless you receive different personalised instructions after your treatment.
• Avoid heavy makeup for the remainder of the day whenever possible.
• Keep your skin hydrated, use daily sun protection and allow your body time to rest.
• Mild temporary redness, warmth or tenderness can occur after deeper facial or buccal massage. Please contact me if you experience any unusual or persistent discomfort.
Before Your Intimate or Body Wax
These instructions apply to Brazilian waxing, male intimate waxing and all body-waxing treatments.
• Gently exfoliate the area one to two days before your appointment, but never on the same day as your wax.
• Please shower on the day of your appointment. For Brazilian or male intimate waxing, thoroughly but gently cleanse the entire external intimate area, including the front and back. The skin must be clean and completely dry.
• Do not apply body lotion, oil, deodorant, perfume or other products to the area before your appointment.
• Do not shave before your appointment. The hair must be long enough for the wax to grip properly. If you have recently shaved, allow approximately two to three weeks of growth.
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment whenever possible.
• Please let me know if the skin is sunburned, irritated, inflamed or broken, or if you are using prescription acne medication.
• For facial waxing, stop using retinol, retinoids, acids and strong exfoliating products on the area at least five days beforehand.
After Your Intimate or Body Wax
• Mild redness, sensitivity and small bumps can be normal immediately after waxing and should gradually settle.
• Wear loose, breathable clothing and comfortable underwear to avoid unnecessary heat and friction.
• Avoid sexual activity and intimate friction for 24–48 hours after Brazilian or male intimate waxing.
• Avoid intense exercise, heavy sweating, saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers and baths, swimming pools, direct sun and tanning for 24–48 hours.
• Keep the area clean and avoid touching it unnecessarily. Do not apply perfume, deodorant, scented products or other potentially irritating products.
• If you shower, use lukewarm water and avoid scrubbing freshly waxed skin.
• Wait at least 48 hours before exfoliating again. After that, gentle regular exfoliation can help prevent ingrown hairs.
• Contact a healthcare professional if you experience severe or increasing pain, significant swelling, discharge or redness that does not improve.
